Simon Beckmann is an interdisciplinary artist with a background in painting. He is  co-founder and curator of Joya: arte + ecología / AiR, an advocacy association for ecosystem restoration / rural culture and residency for international contemporary artists and writers. He lives with his family at the Joya: AiR residency in the heart of the Parque Natural Sierra María-Los Vélez in the north of the province of Almería, Andalucía, Spain. 

He grew up in the small industrial town of Glossop in Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District National Park in England. He studied Fine Art at Manchester Polytechnic, and received his MFA at The Royal Academy Schools in London. 

Simon regularly gives lectures in Spain and the UK, and continues his own practice through the Joya: arte + ecología programme.

Simon Beckmann es un artista interdisciplinario con experiencia en pintura. Es cofundador y curador de Joya: arte + ecología / AiR, una asociación de defensa de la restauración de ecosistemas / cultura rural y residencia para artistas y escritores contemporáneos internacionales. Vive con su familia en la residencia Joya: AiR en el corazón del Parque Natural Sierra María-Los Vélez en el norte de la provincia de Almería, Andalucía, España.

Creció en la pequeña ciudad industrial de Glossop en Derbyshire en el borde del Parque Nacional Peak District en Inglaterra. Estudió Bellas Artes en el Manchester Polytechnic y recibió su MFA en The Royal Academy Schools en Londres.

Simon da conferencias regularmente en España y el Reino Unido, y continúa su propia práctica a través del programa Joya: arte + ecología.
